The communications manager is team leader for projects developed for internal and external audiences including: print collateral, content development, digital marketing, internal newsletter, website, email, etc. This position shepherds the creative and publication process from concept through distribution and is responsible for managing project deadlines. The communications manager is the liaison among the firm and the key contact for new and ongoing print and digital projects. This position assists the chief marketing and communications officer in brand management, consistency in messaging across all platforms, and corporate communications. The communications manager has strong project management; excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills; professional publication experience (print and digital), and inspires creative teams to produce high quality products.

The position requires the following qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Writing, Communications, or Marketing OR
  • Experience: 5 years, communications manager in marketing department or agency
  • Knowledge of standardized office software programs and the ability to learn client relationship management (CRM) software, tailored software packages for project management, database management, intra-company reporting etc.
  • Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
  • Adheres to professional standards as set forth in company professional behavior policy
  • Ability to operate computer, and other general office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in English.
  • Must be able to keep client matters strictly confidential.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages project expectations, timelines, deliverables and communications. 
  • Key point of contact with SPL staff in developing internal and external materials 
  • Provides creative support, editorial direction, and QA for marketing and communications team
  • Manages production of marketing collateral (digital and print) from concept through distribution
  • Ensure SPL style consistent across entire firm 
  • Monitor brand across all marketing channels – print, social media, web 
  • Writing, editing, and proofreading assignments as needed 
  • Provide and facilitate marketing support to Affiliates
